Data from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) shows the October contract-based price was at $5.5 per mmBtu, 48.6 percent below the $10.6/mmBtu recorded in October 2018.

The price did, however, edge up slightly from $5.4/mmBtu in the previous month.

The price of LNG spot cargoes arriving into Japan in October slipped to $5.4/mmBtu, 49 percent below the price in October 2018. However, compared to the previous month this is a 10.2 percent increase.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessment, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
