Jee signed a memorandum of agreement with KOSHIPA in November for the provision of its courses, due to begin in 2014. Under the agreement, Jee will send its UK-based tutors to South Korea to deliver its subsea courses to KOSHIPA’s member companies, which include major players such as Hyundai, Samsung and Daewoo.

Jee Head of Courses, Jenny Matthew, said: “We are very proud to join forces with an organisation as prestigious as KOSHIPA. At Jee we are passionate about learning and development, and the team is very excited to work in collaboration with such a well-established organisation to deliver a tailored curriculum.

“As KOSHIPA represents 90 per cent of the global shipbuilding industry, this is a fantastic opportunity for Jee to expand its geographical horizons and share its training knowledge further afield. Our tutors will be delivering training to strengthen KOSHIPA’s members’ subsea skills base, and we look forward to learning more about the processes and development needs of KOSHIPA and its member organisations.”

The Vice Chairman YoungJu Suh represented KOSHIPA alongside Sangduk Bae and Dong-Hyuk Rhee to sign the agreement, which took place at Jee’s headquarters in Tonbridge. In attendance on behalf of Jee were founder and Managing Director Trevor Jee, Head of Courses Jenny Mathew, Business Development Manager Jamie Burrows and Head of Technical Excellence Jonathan Franklin.

Jee tutors utilise the company’s blended learning techniques, which involves using the most effective learning methods for a particular course and integrates techniques such as podcasts, group discussion and traditional tutor support to optimise the learning experience.

Vice Chairman of KOSHIPA, YoungJu Suh said: “We are very pleased to join in this partnership with Jee Ltd. The company has built up a strong reputation through its subsea training courses, and we look forward to sharing their proven curriculum with our member companies. Working with Jee will enhance our service offering and assist all of our members in widening their skills, which will directly feed back into the worldwide shipping industry.”

Jee has been training the global oil and gas industry with its subsea portfolio for 18 years and the curriculum has become the benchmark for excellence in the industry. The company has built up a portfolio of 25 subsea engineering courses offered worldwide to assist in the standardisation of engineering knowledge across the global industry. Jee has trained nearly 6,000 professional engineers to date and delivered courses in 32 countries.
