'Oil Woman of the Year' Takes Over as AGR Rig Team Boss

Norway’s AGR today announced it has appointed Jorunn Sætre to lead its  Norwegian Rig Team and manage the company’s rapidly growing Stavanger office.

With a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years in the international energy industry, Jorunn brings a wealth of experience to her new roles. Prior to her recent return to Norway, she held the role of Vice President with Halliburton, working in Houston, with responsibility for technology and production enhancement activities. She was previously Country VP for Halliburton Scandinavia for 10 years.

EVP Norway and Russia, Sjur Talstad, said: “Jorunn is a very highly regarded figure throughout the oil and gas industry in Norway and around the world and we are delighted she has joined us.”

“Her experience and expertise will be invaluable to us as leader of our Rig Team in Norway, working to secure rigs and get best rig pricing as part of AGR’s global strategy to help our clients save costs and resources.”

“Jorunn joins our successful Stavanger office at an exciting time, following recent expansions there and a move to new premises in the Forus area.”

In 2008 Jorunn was awarded the title of “Oil Woman of the Year” by Stavanger Society of Petroleum Engineers – an honour which has been reserved for men, as “Oil Man of the Year” for the previous 20 years.

An Engineering graduate of Bergen Ingeniørhøgskole, Jorunn has held a number of board directorships and honorary offices in Norwegian business life, including IRIS (International Research Institute of Stavanger), NHO (Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise), NOG (Norwegian Oil and Gas Association), NPF (Norwegian Petroleum Society), and ONS (oil conference in Stavanger).

Jorunn will be involved in expanding AGR’s multi-well, multi-client drilling campaigns. AGR has outstanding experience from drilling campaign operations managed in Norway.

Due to start later this year, AGR will provide project management and operational support in drilling campaign on behalf of RWE Dea Norge AS, Lundin Norway AS, Norwegian Energy Company AS and Repsol Exploration AS. AGR is also currently providing similar services for a multi-well, multi-client campaign using the Borgland Dolphin rig.

The global oil and gas service provider’s Stavanger-based Rig Team has recently delivered wells for Statoil as part of a Well Management Frame Agreement signed last year and is currently planning additional wells for the operator.
