The ship was built at Shin Kasado Dockyard, part of Imabari Shipbuilding Group, and belongs to K Line’s specialized fleet for transport of thermal coal known as the Corona-series.

The Corona-series coal carriers feature wide beam and shallow draft, the most suitable type of ships to enter ports of domestic thermal power stations to discharge cargo.

Corona Xanadu is equipped Weather Adapted Duct (WAD) which boosts the vessel’s propeller efficiency and ballast water management system.

This is the second coal carrier of the series to join the company since the beginning of the year.

Corona Xanadu was preceded by Corona Wisdom, delivered in January this year.

With this new latest deployment, the Corona-series now consists of 19 carriers.
