Russia’s Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port OJSC handled 1.785 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2014, which is a drop of 29% per cent compared year-on-year, the stevedoring company says.


 In the reported period, transshipment of ferrous metal fell by 24.5% to 616,600 t. Coal and coke handled volumes increased by 10% to 170,100 t, while oil products’ transshipment decreased 4.5 times to 56,900 t.

Scrap metal volumes handled went up 1% to 76,100 t.

The port’s container throughput climbed by 4.7% to 92,409 TEUs.

In 2013, the port’s throughput totaled 4.068m tonnes.

Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port JSC is the largest enterprise of the regional port complex, both in terms of volume of carried out works and technical support, and a myriad of services granted to the cargo owners.

The port has a vital role in the Kaliningrad region, as practically all means of transport and the basic part of the export-import freight traffic passing through the territory of the region, close in the port.
