Project & Tenders

Kawasaki Heavy industries has secured an order to build two LNG carriers for JVs which Chubu Electric has established with MOL and NYK Line.

MOL and NYK also ordered a pair of LNG tankers today from Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, as reported by LNG World News.

Once completed in 2018, the two 177,000 cbm vessels will transport LNG that Chubu Electric is procuring from the Freeport project in the US for a period of 20 years.

The two companies have also signed time charter deals with Chubu for the vessels.

The vessels will have a total length of about 300m and width of 48.9m. They will be powered by dual fuel diesel electric propulsion system.
