KBR scores Browse project FPSOs deal

LNG engineer KBR has been contracted by Woodside Energy, on behalf of Browse joint venture, for the concept definition engineering contract for the two gas FPSO facilities for the proposed Browse to North West Shelf development, located offshore Western Australia. 

Woodside has launched the engineering services contract to define all elements of the hull and topsides of two FPSOs for remote environment operations.

The engineering work is expected to be performed up to the end of the first half of 2019, KBR said in a statement.

The Browse joint venture participants maintain seven petroleum retention leases in the Browse basin.

The joint venture partners including Woodside, Shell, BP, Japan Australia LNG and PetroChina are progressing commercial discussions and joint technical studies on the feasibility of NWS infrastructure processing the Browse resources.

According to Woodside, the project operator, the proposed offshore development concept involves two gas floating production storage and offloading (gFPSO) facilities delivering 10–12 mtpa of gas via a 1000 km pipeline to existing North West Shelf production facilities.

Woodside’s CEO Peter Coleman said in August the JV partners were expected to reach to reach a preliminary tolling agreement between the NWS project participants and Browse joint venture in the third quarter of this year.
