Keel Laying Ceremony for Havyard 843 AHTS Held at Yuexin Shipyard (China)

In February 2010 Havyard Group signed contract with Sinopec Corp. (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) for delivery of Design and Engineering for building of a Havyard 843 Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS).

Later the same year Yuexin Shipbuilding was awarded the contract for building the vessel for Sinopec. This was an important and prestigious contract for Havyard Group as it was the first Havyard designTM to a Chinese ship owner and because Sinopec is one of the biggest oil companies in China.

Havyard Group had already established a close cooperation with Yuexin Shipbuilding which delivered two Havyard 842 AHTS last year. This cooperation has been further strengthened during the design and engineering phase of the Havyard 843 for Sinopec. In addition to delivering design and engineering Havyard Group have a share of Ship Technology programme with Yuexin for securing best possible outcome of the project both for shipyard and ship owner.

Saturday, last week Yuexin reached another milestone when the keel laying ceremony of the Havyard 843 (Yuexin hull No. 3138) was carried out together with Sinopec. The ceremony was carried out in drydock No. 2 of Yuexin Shipyard with representatives from the shipyard, the owner, Marine Safety Administration of China, Havyard China and the Classification societies DnV and CCS.

The Havyard 843 AHTS is scheduled to be delivered from Yuexin to Sinopec April 2012 and Havyard continues to focus on supporting the shipyard and the owner in order for the project to become a success. Close cooperation and good relations between all parties has been a key factor for the success so far and will be so also till the end of the project. We have established a very good way of cooperating with both Yuexin and Sinopec and have a good basis for exploiting mutual business opportunities and delivering top quality projects also in the future, Nils Johan Myrene, Project Manager at Havyard Global Solutions replies.
