Keppel FELS Orders Caterpillar Generator Sets

Caterpillar Oil & Gas has announced that the Cat® C175 and Cat 3516B generator sets have been selected to power five high spec Super Class B jackup rigs.

Each rig will be equipped with five Cat C175 generator sets, each with rated power of 1833 ekW @ 60 Hz (1200 rpm), for prime power as well as 1x Cat 3516B generator set providing emergency power.

The newbuilds are currently being constructed by Keppel FELS in Singapore and the Cat power solutions will be delivered over the course of the next two years.
