Klaipedos Nafta delivers first gas from LNG terminal

AB Klaipedos Nafta said it pumped first gas from its LNG terminal into Lithuania’s natural gas transmission system.

Over the weekend, about 1 million cubic meters of gas were pumped into the transmission system, according to a company statement.

AB Klaipedos Nafta’s CEO, Mantas Bartuška said that LNG terminal operation was scheduled to begin in early December, but he assured that the terminal is ready to provide alternative supplies of gas to the Baltic countries.

Bartuška further stated that first gas transfer process went without issues and start-up and adjustments will continue until the official start of operations scheduled for December 3.

Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence with a capacity of 170,000 cbm received its first cargo from Norway aboard the 160,00 cbm Golar Seal.
