Klaipedos Nafta denies negotiations with Statoil

Klaipedos Nafta’s general manager Mantas Bartuška issued a statement regarding media reports that the company has entered talks with Statoil of Norway to lower the amount of gas imported.

Bartuška stressed that Klaipedos Nafta is only the operator of the LNG terminal in the port of Klaipeda and that it does not negotiate import deals with existing or potential suppliers. He added that the company is engaged in operations of receiving the chilled gas, transferring, storing and delivering it to the national gas transmission system.

In his comment, Bartuška added that the company responsible for the supply of LNG is the natural gas supply and trading company Litgas, that has a contract in place with Statoil.

Under the contract, Statoil is supplying approximately 950,000 cbm of LNG per year.
