Klaipedos Nafta, the operator of the first Lithuanian LNG terminal said its revenue for the first nine months of 2016 reached €80.3 million, 1.8 percent up on the same period in 2015.

Regasification volumes at the Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence located in the port of Klaipeda in the first three quarters of 2016 reached 12.2 million MWh, Klaipedos Nafta said in its statement.

Revenues from the LNG import terminal reached €50.5 million for the first nine months in 2016, up 3.9 percent from the €48.5 million in the corresponding period a year ago.

Klaipedos Nafta added that during the year so far, more gas has been imported via the LNG terminal than via pipeline from Russia.

The largest of the three Baltic nations, Lithuania started importing LNG in December 2014 in order to reduce its dependence on Russian pipeline gas supplies.
