Norwegian shipping company Knutsen OAS Shipping has taken delivery of the newly-built MEGI liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier La Mancha Knutsen, South Korea’s shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries said on September 26.

The 176,300 cbm vessel, which features a length of 290 meters and a width of 46.4 meters, is the first of two large LNG carriers ordered from the Asian shipyard in January 2014.

Knutsen OAS Shipping’s second carrier, named Rioja Knutsen, is scheduled to join the company’s fleet by the end of 2016.

According to data provided by VesselsValue, the ships are each valued at over USD 203.7 million.

Knutsen operates nine advanced LNG carriers, of which eight are on long-term fixed contracts of 15 years and beyond. According to the company’s website, Knutsen also operates the smallest LNG carrier in the world.
