Kongsberg Delivers Multibeam Echo Sounders to Shom

Kongsberg Maritime has completed the delivery of portable multibeam echo sounders to Service Hydrographique et Océanographique de la Marine (Shom) in France.

Kongsberg Maritime won a tender in late 2017 to supply KONGSBERG EM 2040P multibeam echo sounders to Shom.

A total of three EM 2040P systems with Dual Swath (800 beams per ping) have been delivered to Noumea, New Caledonia and all three systems were delivered with the new KONGSBERG IP67 portable processing unit (PPU) that optimizes the interface of all required peripherals.

The tender opens up for the acquisition of two additional systems intended for other French remote locations, the company noted.

Øystein Aasbø, area sales manager, Kongsberg Maritime, said: “We are delighted that Shom has chosen the EM 2040P system as their standard portable multibeam echo sounder going forward. With these three multibeam systems replacing their singlebeam systems, Shom is significantly enhancing their survey capabilities in New Caledonia and other French remote territories worldwide.”
