KSS Line Lays Keel for VLGC, Orders One More at HHI

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a contract for the construction of another LPG carrier with its compatriot chemical shipping company KSS Line.

The order for the 84,000 cbm carrier, signed today, has secured the company an orderbook of total of thirteen carriers to be constructed by 2017.

KSS Line expects that the vessel, worth an estimated USD 77 million, will be built by May 2017.

The company said that the vessel should start its employment operations upon delivery and contribute to the company’s revenues with approximately USD 102.1 million.

The announcement comes on the same day of the keel laying for KSS Line’s new 84,000 cubic meter very large gas carrier (VLGC).

The shipping company expects to operate nine VLGCs and four mid-sized liquefied petroleum gas carriers by the end of 2017.
