Kunlun Bolsters Development of LNG Buses in Guangzhou (China)

Daguan Road LNG Refueling Station Proves to Be Successful

As the Daguan Road LNG Refueling station, the first LNG refueling station in Guangzhou invested and constructed by CNPC Shennan Oil Technology Development Co, Ltd, of which Kunlun Energy Company Limited is the holding company, commenced operation in February 2013, the first fleet of 310 LNG-powered buses were running safely and smoothly since then, which marked the successful conversion of LPG-powered buses into LNG-powered buses in Guangzhou.

The conversion received wide recognition from all levels of the governmental departments in Guangzhou.

Recently, the first fleet of 6 LNG-powered double-decker tourist buses in Guangzhou downtown has caught the attention from overseas and domestic tourists. This fleet of LNG-powered buses is the Route 1 double-decker buses launched by Guangzhou Public Transportation Company with the trial route length of 11.7 kilometers. The route starts from the Pearl River Swimming Pool station and ends at Whampoa Ancient Village station (Two-way operation). The tourist could scene the sights of both sides of the Pearl River on this route, which fully reflects the philosophy of Guangzhou government to construct an ecological civilization city. It is said that Guangzhou city will develop 500 LNG-powered vehicles by the end of this year, of which 12 are double-decker tourist buses. CNPC Shennan Oil Technology Development Co, Ltd will construct five more LNG refueling stations to supply clean energy to these vehicles.

Compared with the conventional fuels, LNG-powered buses are estimated to reduce 93% of CO emission, 73% of CH emission, 39% of NO emission, 90% of SO2, 95% of PB, 96% of PM 2.5, and 28% of CO2, demonstrating the outstanding efficiency in environmental protection.
