The last jacket foundations manufactured by Bladt Industries for the Wikinger offshore wind farm are now on their way to the offshore wind farm site in the German sector of the Baltic Sea, following a load-out last Thursday

The four-legged jackets weigh approximately 650 tonnes and have a footprint of 23 x 23 metres each. They will be installed in water depths of up to 42 metres.

The EUR 1.4 billion Wikinger project, scheduled to be operational by the end of 2017, will consist of 70 Adwen 5MW wind turbines.

Bladt produced 41 jackets for the offshore wind farm, with the remaining 29 foundations being fabricated by Spanish company Navantia.

The first Wikinger foundations built by Bladt left the company’s facilities at Lindø Industripark on a barge in mid-July.
