Libya: Bouri Offshore Field Back in Production

Mellitah Oil & Gas B. V. Libyan Branch announced the start up of production operations from the offshore Bouri Field on Tuesday, November 22, with 10.000 BBLS/ day from DP4 platform and will reach 25.000 BBLS/ day by the end of this month.

Mellitah said on its website that a plan was put to start up the production of DP3 Platform by the end of first week of December.

Bouri oil field is located at 130 km north of Tripoli cost and production was stopped on 11-03-2011 due to latest development in the country.

The Bouri Offshore Field is part of Block NC-41, which is located 120 kilometers (75 mi) north of the Libyan coast in the Mediterranean Sea. It was first discovered in 1976 at a depth of 8,700 feet (2,700 m) and is estimated to contain 2 billion barrels (320,000,000 m3) in proven recoverable crude oil reserves and 2.5 trillion cubic feet (71 km3) of associated natural gas with an annual production potential of 6 billion m³.
