Lithuania, UAE to exchange LNG know-how

Lithuanian energy minister, Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, signed a memorandum of understanding with his UAE counterpart on bilateral cooperation, exchange of knowledge and experience in the fields of solar energy and LNG technologies.

UAE has been focusing on renewable energy in recent years, however, natural gas remains an important fuel for energy production.

During his visit to the UAE, Vaičiūnas presented Lithuania’s experience in developing its liquefied natural gas import terminal as well as the small-scale LNG reloading facility.

UAE currently imports natural gas, including LNG for power production, and both countries are aiming to partner up on developing LNG activities.

Lithuania that imports LNG via Hoegh LNG’s FSRU Independence in Klaipeda has recently started up operations at the 5,000 cubic meters small-scale LNG reloading station at the port.

UAE imports LNG via Excelerate Energy’s FSRU Explorer at DUSUP’s Jebel Ali LNG import terminal.
