LNG Limited mulls U.S. redomiciling and listing

Perth-based LNG Limited is considering the option of redomiciling the company to the United States as well as listing it on either New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq.

Saying such a transaction could benefit the company and its shareholders, LNG Limited has already been evaluating the U.S. listing as it moves ahead with its two liquefied natural gas export projects in North America.

A timetable for the decision has not yet been specified, the company informed in its statement on Thursday, noting that it will release the details “once the structure and timing of any proposed transaction have been determined.”

The company will also consider whether it will remain listed on the ASX.

The authorization to explore redomiciling in the USA comes shortly after LNG Limited squashed its plans to build an LNG export facility at the Port of Gladstone in Queensland.

The project abandonment was decided upon as the company failed to tie down long-term economic gas supply that would be needed to proceed with the 3.5 mtpa Fisherman’s Landing LNG export project.
