Lundin eyes wildcat in Barents Sea

Lundin Norway AS has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea using the Transocean Arctic drilling rig.

Lundin Norway AS is the operator for production licence 708 and has received consent to drill exploration well 7130/4-1 in the Barents Sea.

According to the PSA, the drilling is scheduled to begin in November 2015 and estimated to last 56 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

It will be carried out using the Transocean Arctic, a semi-submersible drilling rig owned and operated by Transocean. The rig was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan in 1987, and upgraded in 2004. It was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in July 2004.
