Lyman Morse to Launch Kiwi Spirit, USA

Lyman Morse to Launch Kiwi Spirit (USA)

Stanley Paris gets one step closer to his dream of becoming the oldest, fastest and “green”est circumnavigator when Lyman Morse Boatbuilding launches his boat, Kiwi Spirit, on November 1st. Lyman Morse are in the final fit-out stages as they add the personalized touches and await the arrival of the keel.

Sail trials will begin shortly after her launch. The hydraulic keel, water ballast and hydro generators will be tested, while also charting the allowable energy budget supplied by the solar panels and wind generator.

Stanley’s immediate racing plans for Kiwi Spirit include participating in the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), which departs from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain and crosses to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia. Multiple races are planned for the coming months, where Stanley will fine-tune the vessel over the year to prepare for his departure from St. Augustine, FL on November 30, 2013 to begin his solo circumnavigation.

Launch to be held Thursday, November 1st at 3:30 pm. Party will follow at 5:30 pm at Lyman-Morse in Thomaston, Maine.
