Macduff and Torgem Continue Cooperation on 'ATCO Project'

Macduff Ship Design and Torgem Shipbuilding, Tuzla, Turkey have continued their successful working relationship with the conclusion of two further new contracts. Following a major contract signed in June 2012 for a series of nine different vessels for ATCO in Saudi Arabia, Macduff have now received a contract for the 2nd Phase of ten vessels for the same client.

The second phase contains repeats of the 30m ASD Tug and 15m General Service boat from phase one in addition to three new designs. Three 19m steel Pilot boats, a 15m Dive boat and two 15m Garbage boats make up the full complement.

Macduff will be responsible for the development of the full design and technical drawing packages in addition to the provision of all cutting information.

The second contract highlights the diversification and adaptability of both companies and signals an entrance into a new market.

This contract is for a steel, 45m Offshore Security Patrol boat with a speed of 35 knots. The design has been the subject of intensive CFD analysis and full tank testing (carried out by CTO in Poland) to optimise the hull form and power requirements.

Featuring a quadruple engine installation and accommodation for a complement of 18 the vessel will be used to patrol offshore installations in Arabian waters.

Kort propulsion are suppliers of fixed pitch propeller systems to Torgem for all of these contracts.
