MAN Diesel & Turbo, CCS Ink Technical Cooperation Agreement

On December 4, during the 17th International Marintec China in Shanghai, China Classification Society (CCS) and MAN Diesel & Turbo SE signed a framework agreement for technical cooperation. This agreement follows the one CCS signed with Wartsila earlier this year. The two sides introduced the new ship type with dual fuel system during the exhibition.

According to the agreement, both sides will carry out a comprehensive cooperation in areas covering ship design and ship type development, ship power (including propulsion system), ship automation, environmental protection and energy saving technologies. The cooperation projects include new product approval, ship design and development, rules and standards formulation, scientific research cooperation, technical information exchange and market cooperation.

Mr. Sun Feng, CCS Vice President, and Dr. Stephan Timmermann, Board Member of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE signed the agreement on behalf of the two organizations. Mr. Chen Shi, CCS Deputy Chief Engineer, MAN Low-speed Machine Senior Vice President Mr. Thomas S. Knudsen, Mr. Goetz Kassing, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo Shanghai, and a number of other guests attended the signing ceremony.

Mr. Sun Feng stated that CCS, a world-class classification society, plays an important responsibility and a historical role as technology pioneer of shipping and shipbuilding industries. Dr. Stephan Timmermann said that MAN is one of the world’s leading ship power equipment manufacturers and its most important market was China.

“We want to have the most powerful partner and supporter in China in order to win the trust of the customers and provide better service for them. This is the reason why we chose CCS and the win-win cooperation. I am looking forward to the prospect for the bilateral cooperation,” he said.
