Marathon to Use Transocean Winner for Vilje South Drilling (Norway)

Marathon Oil Norge AS has received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway’s (PSA’s) consent to use the Transocean Winner rig for production drilling on Vilje South, which is part of production licence 036.

The drilling is scheduled to start in February 2013.  Vilje is an oil field located in the central part of the North Sea just north of the Heimdal field.

Water depth in the area is 120 metres. The field is developed with two subsea wells that are tied in to the Alvheim FPSO production vessel.
