Mauritius Looking For Seasoned Offshore Wind Consultants
The Mauritius Research Council (MRC) has invited expressions of interest for the development of offshore wind farms for the Republic of Mauritius.
The MRC is looking for reputable consultancy firms having past experience in development of offshore wind farms.
The consultants must have extensive experience in collecting site data, conducting permitting processes, organizing social debates, preparing tender documents for procuring offshore wind turbines, and providing site supervisory services of similar projects elsewhere, the MRC said.
The closing date for submission of expressions of interest is Thursday, 4 May 2017.
The Republic of Mauritius has set up a target for increasing electricity generation from renewable energy sources to 35% by 2025.
Having a total area of 2.3 million square kilometres of Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), Mauritius is geographically well placed to harness offshore wind energy, which can amply contribute to the country’s energy security and help in exceeding the expected target of 35% of the electricity production from renewable energy sources, the government said.
