Mexico: Pemex Encounters ‘Active Petroleum System’

Pemex Encounters 'Active Petroleum System' Offshore Mexico

Pemex’s offshore exploration well Puskon-1, situated approximately 60 kilometers off the coast of the city of Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico, has encountered an “active petroleum system”.

The Mexican state-owned petroleum company said that the well confirmed the presence of wet gas at a depth of 7.200 meters. Pemex said that the work was underway “on defining of the distribution and potential” of the discovery.

Petroleos Mexicanos is the biggest enterprise in Mexico and Latin America and the highest fiscal contributor to the country. The company boasts the fact that it is one of the few oil companies in the world that develops all the productive chain of the industry, upstream, downstream and final product commercialization.
