Minister Oliver Promotes Canadian Energy Export Potential

Canada’s Natural Resources Minister, Joe Oliver, delivered a keynote speech to the Canada-China Chamber of Industry and Commerce Association, where he highlighted the immense opportunity for Canadian energy exports to Asia and the Government of Canada’s commitment to diversifying energy markets for Canada’s natural resources.

Market diversification supports the Government’s top priority: creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians.

During his address, Minister Oliver described Canada’s vast natural resources, focusing on opportunities for further trade with China in the areas of uranium, oil and gas in the context of rising Chinese energy demand.

Minister Oliver highlighted Canada as one of the world’s most business-friendly countries, especially for foreign investment. He also outlined the Government of Canada’s plan for Responsible Resource Development, which is slashing red tape and streamlining processes to bring greater certainty and predictability for investors. The plan provides world-class environmental protection and ensures meaningful consultations with Aboriginal Peoples.
