Missing Crew Member of Liberian Tanker Found Dead

The Greek coast guard has informed that the body of a missing crew member of the Liberian-flagged chemical tanker M/T  Histria Ambra has been found.

Namely, the coast guard’s Unified Coordination Center for Search and Rescue was informed earlier this week by the ship’s master that a 35-year crew member went missing while the ship was under way in the wider sea area between Karpathos and Rhodes islands, in the southeastern Aegean Sea.

Greek patrol boat EL.AKT was dispatched to the area following the report, but the search did not yield results.

However, on Wednesday, August 26th, Rhodes port authorities informed of the existence of an unidentified male corpse in the coastal region of Prasonisi.

The corpse was subsequently confirmed by the ship’s master to be the missing crew member.

The 40,030 DWT tanker was built in 2013 and is owned and managed by Histria Shipmanagement, based in Constantza, Romania.
