NLI, Teekay Petrojarl Cooperate in FPSO Projects

NLI and Teekay Petrojarl Production have signed a frame agreement where NLI will provide engineering and MC & commissioning to Teekay Petrojarl’s FPSO projects.

“This is an agreement where both parties will benefit from working more closely together. By choosing NLI, Teekay Petrojarl has a supplier with the ability to adapt to their complex needs. We will deliver everything from FEED to MC & commissioning for newbuildings and EPCIC for upgrades or Redeployment, says Sigve Barvik, Marketing Director of NLI.

Upgrading of Piranema Spirit

The agreement is a formalization of a partnership that has lasted for several years. NLI has already delivered a number of studies and assignments to Teekay Petrojarl. At the moment NLI is doing maintenance and modification work on Teekay Petrojarl FPSO Piranema Spirit in Brazil, where NLI is responsible for the installation work.

“We have positive experiences with NLI as a supplier. Now we want to formalize this cooperation. Especially within the modification market, Teekay Petrojarl sees a growing demand in the future, and this is where NLI will be one of the suppliers we want to use,” says Bernt Lilliestråle, Director Project Services at Teekay Petrojarl Production.

Norwegian competitiveness

For operators, a critical success factor is to limit the downtime during maintenance and modification work. This places high demands with respect to efficiency and quality. Barvik claims that the agreement proves that the Norwegian supplier industry is globally competitive.

“In order to deliver on quality and efficiency, experience is crucial, must be experienced and it is a great advantage to have experience in both engineering and fabrication. In NLI, we have gained expertise in topside FPSO, in new construction, conversion, maintenance and modification, which we experience the major international markets increasingly demand,” says Barvik.
