MOL Inks Coal Transport Deal with TPCIL

Business & Finance

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed a coal transport contract with Thermal Powertech Corporation India Limited (TPCIL) under which it will provide a “stable supply of coal” in India.

TPCIL owns and operates a 1,320-megawatt thermal power plant in SPSR Nellore district in India’s Andhra Pradesh state.

TPCIL, which is owned by Sembcorp Industries and Gayatri Projects Limited, is supplying electricity to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states.

The project will now be supported by MOL’s ocean shipping services.

MOL said it continues to provide transport of resources and energy to India and emerging countries in Asia where the company anticipates strong growth in demand.
