MOL, MSC Team Up on CX1 Service

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has formed a new partnership with Swiss-based shipping firm Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in an effort to jointly operate MOL’s CX1 containership service on the Panama and Amazon route.

The CX1 service will add weekly coverage from Manaus to the Panamanian hub of Manzanillo, MOL said.

The first sailing of the upgraded CX1 service will be on January 19, 2017, with the 2,908 TEU ship MSC Anahita departing Manzanillo.

MOL said it will operate one 1,800 TEU containership out of four vessels in total.

Port coverage of the new joint service will be as follows: Manzanillo (Panama), Manaus, Vila Do Conde (Brazil), Manzanillo.
