Monadelphous Secures Darwin LNG Contract Extension

Engineering group Monadelphous said it has been awarded a two-year contract extension to provide onshore maintenance and shutdown services at the ConocoPhillips-operated Darwin LNG terminal in Northern Territory, Australia.

Construction of the Darwin LNG terminal began in June 2003, with the terminal being officially commissioned in January 2006.

Gas is sent via a 500 kilometre pipeline from the Bayu-Undan field to the plant at Wickham Point, where it is converted into LNG for sale to Tokyo Electric and Tokyo Gas in Japan.

More than 300 LNG shipments have been delivered from the facility since early 2006.
