CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt Docks at EUROGATE Terminal

The CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt, the second 16,000 TEU mega container ship of the French shipping line CMA CGM, docked Wednesday, 22 May 2013, at the EUROGATE Tanger container terminal in Morocco on her maiden voyage.

The vessel, which put to sea on her maiden voyage in Pusan/South Korea on 19 April, belongs to the world’s largest class of container ships. She is 396 metres long, 54 metres wide and has a maximum draught of 16 metres. The ship arrived in Tangier with a draught of 13.95 metres. In total 1,200 standard containers were loaded/unloaded.

The sister ship CMA CGM Marco Polo called at the EUROGATE Tanger terminal on her maiden voyage on 6 December 2012. There are only a few ports worldwide capable of handling these ULCVs with ease. EUROGATE Tanger is one of them.
