Moventas Completes Cooperation Negotiations with Its Finnish Staff

Wind and industrial gear manufacturer and service provider Moventas Gears Oy has today completed the cooperation negotiations it started with its Finnish staff on 7 January, 2013. Moventas seasonally adjusts its capacity to match the market situation by temporary layoffs of a minimum of two weeks.

Moventas Gears Oy has today agreed with its Finnish staff to adjust its operations and excess capacity to the prevailing market situation by temporary layoffs during the first half of the year. Moventas did not negotiate on permanent layoffs.

Temporary layoff periods will vary by personnel group, workload and order backlog. Layoff periods are a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of twelve weeks.

The need for temporary layoffs is because of an insufficient order backlog for H1/2013 in proportion to the number of staff. Although the company’s order backlog is at a reasonably good level in the beginning of the year, it’s however not sufficient for full employment. The temporary adjustment to the market situation will not risk ongoing or future deliveries.
