MSC Keeps Northern Europe – US East Coast Services

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. has confirmed continued direct shipping services from Northern Europe to the key U.S. ports of Boston and Philadelphia. The revised service is due to come into effect in early 2015.

MSC says that while the 2M vessel sharing agreement with Maersk Line will deliver operational benefits for MSC clients, the proposed schedule did not include direct services to Boston or Philadelphia.

These updated routes will ensure MSC offers complete coverage of North American ports, which the company believes is strategically important.

MSC says that the plan for continued services to the two major U.S. east coast ports was backed by the State of Pennsylvania and its Governor, Tom Corbett.
