MTG Dolphin shipyard in Bulgaria has started 2017 at full steam, with five repairs of vessels owned by the Canadian shipping company Fednav and the sixth one scheduled for February.

In addition, there is one Latvian bulk carrier being repaired and a Bulgarian one is coming soon, the shipyard said.

Moreover, the repairs of vessels which are managed by Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, Navibulgar and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) have been agreed, according to MTG Dolphin.

“There is a tendency for extreme rise of workload in 2017, so the shipyard expects very dynamic year. We have repaired 50 ships in 2016 and we will have more than 60 in 2017,” Ivan Botev, the Production Director at MTG Dolphin, said.

MTG Dolphin revealed its shipbuilding orderbook is filled up until the end of 2018.

On December 20, 2016, the company cut the first steel plate for a 2,750 cubic meter bunker tanker ordered from Italy’s Ciane Spa. The contract for the vessel was signed in Genoa in November 2016 and the delivery of the tanker is expected in February 2018.
