MV Nordana Sea Joins Symphony Shipping’s Fleet

Dutch shipbuilder Ferus Smit delivered a 10,550 dwt multi-purpose cargo carrier MV Nordana Sea to its compatriot shipping company Symphony Shipping on February 11.

MV Nordana Sea, the third unit in a series of six newbuilds of Ferus Smit’s DP2 Ecobox design, departed the shipyard on its maiden voyage to Esbjerg, Denmark, where it will pick up windmill components and transport them to Greece.

Featuring a length of some 122 meters and a width of 17 meters, the vessel has a single hold of box shaped form and a loading floor area for project cargoes, including complete movable tweendeck.

MV Nordana Sea is also equipped with two 85-ton cargo cranes and a deckhouse, which is placed on the foreship for better protection of deck cargo and enabling the ship to load oversized items over the stern.

The vessel is the second multi-purpose carrier delivered to Symphony Shipping. The first one, MV Nordana Sky, was delivered to the company on February 21, 2015.

Additionally, Dutch Ferus Smit Westerbroek Yard expects to launch its second in a series of two dedicated cement carriers built for the joint venture JT Cement on March 19.

The vessel, named MV Ireland, is equipped with an LNG-fuelled propulsion system. The cement cargo system will consist of a fully automated cement loading and unloading system, based on fluidization of cement by means of compressed air.
