Naftogaz Pays Off USD 786.3 Mln to Gazprom

Naftogaz of Ukraine transferred Gazprom 786.3 mln USD, a payment for natural gas imported in February and March 2014, at the price of 268.5 USD/1000 cm.

This payment came about on May 30. which prompted Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine into a new round of negotiations in Brussels which resulted in Gazprom pushing back the ultimatum on pre-payments for gas to June 9.

It remains to be seen if the gas price will return to a discount amount of USD 268.50 per 1,000 cubic meters with Moscow demanding USD 485.
