New Upstream boss for OMV

OMV, an integrated international oil and gas company, headquartered in Vienna, appointed Johann Pleininger as the Executive Board member responsible for Upstream as of September 1, 2015.

Pleininger will succeed Jaap Huijskes, who decided to resign before the end of his mandate.

According to a press release, Johann Pleininger has decades of experience at OMV.

With Johann Pleininger we have appointed one of OMV´s most experienced and successful managers. His exceptional achievements at OMV Petrom in particular deserve to be highlighted.

““The OMV Supervisory Board is convinced that he will successfully lead the Upstream business, the decisive growth driver for OMV, and that he will steer us through the challenging times we now face. This is also why finding a rapid solution was a particular priority.”

Johann Pleininger joined OMV back in 1977 and from 2007 to 2013 he was the Executive Board member responsible for E&P at OMV Petrom in Bucharest. Most recently he has been the Senior Vice President responsible for the core Upstream countries Romania and Austria.
