New US-French Business Steps Into Offshore Wind

U.S. Berger Geosciences and Integral Consulting and France’s Akrocean have established BIA Offshore Studies to deliver site characterization services for the U.S. offshore wind market.

According to the parties, the global ambition of BIA Offshore is to support and accelerate U.S. offshore wind development by providing tailor-made services through a single structure.

The partnership is said to gather expertise and experience in meteorology, oceanology, geology, archaeology, and biology to deliver a full range of solutions for site characterization.

“BIA Offshore leverages the extensive experience of our team in the marine environment and will bring collaborative teams together efficiently to find efficient paths to lower LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy),” said Craig Jones, Principal at Integral Consulting.

Akrocean, the French floating Lidar supplier, is joining the group with its floating monitoring station aiming to collect critical offshore data efficiently during all phases of offshore wind projects.

“We are exciting to support US offshore wind development through this experienced team. Our floating LIDAR represents a unique opportunity to collect and gather complete data sets to effectively support environmental and resource assessments and operational monitoring needs,” said Maxime Bellorge, Akrocean’s Sales & Project Director.
