NewLead Fights to Reclaim Unpaid Charter Fees

The Greek shipowner NewLead Holding is determined to reclaim $16.4m in unpaid charter fees owed by Taiwan’s Today Makes Tomorrow (TMT), the Shipping Herald reports.

NewLead makes constant monitoring on its fleet and investments, NewLead spokesperson said and added: “NewLead’s next step is to target assets in the UK that belong to TMT or Nobu Su in person.”

The company also said it withdrew the vessel with around a year and a half left to run on the contract after TMT began to default on payments.

The case concerned a dispute over unpaid charter fee for 151,700-dwt vessel Brazil (built in 1995) on which TMT had six year long charter contract that ends December 24, 2013.
