Niko Drills Duster Offshore Indonesia. Spuds Elit-1 Well

Canadian oil and gas exploration company Niko Resources has announced that it has abandoned the Elang-1 exploration well offshore Indonesia.

The well, located in the Cendrawasih PSC offshore Papua province in eastern Indonesia, has been drilled in a water depth of 5,033 feet to a total depth of 15,865 feet.

The well, drilled by the Diamond Offshore drilling rig, the Ocean Monarch, failed to find commercial hydrocarbon volumes and Niko decided to plug and abandon it.

The semi-submersible drilling rig has been moved to the Elit-1 well location at Kofiau PSC and has kicked off drilling operations as a follow up to the Ajek-1 well drilled by Niko in January 2013
