NIOC's Director Speaks at Moscow Energy Conference

Deputy Oil Minister and managing director of National Iranian Oil Company, Ahmad Ghalehbani took part in Moscow International Energy Conference on Thursday.

In his address, Ahmad Ghalehbani mentioned the role of strategic Strait of Hormuz in the region: “Strait of Hormuz can be a unifying factor as well as a factor of solidarity for the Persian Gulf countries.”

He further stated that security of Strait of Hormuz besides free shipping is vital for industrial countries. Therefore, security of the region is a great challenge for safe energy delivery to the world. Managing director of NIOC in his speech at the event said that development of energy in the world will not happen by political pressures and creating tension for crude producers.

“Considering mutual dependence of nations, energy security highly depends on how relations with other countries are managed,” he said.

Considering relation of international security and security of energy he added that overcoming challenges of energy will not be possible through war, military actions, or embargos.

From geopolitical point of view Iran has played a key role in providing energy for the world over the last 100 years. The two-day conference is to review the latest situation in world energy market, the importance of securing energy production as a key factor for ensuring economic and social sustainable development of countries and introduce the latest innovations in oil and gas exploration, production and refining industries.
