NKT Appoints New CEO from ABB

NKT’s Board of Directors has appointed ABB’s Alexander Kara as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President.

The new executive will join the Danish company on 1 August, when he will take the place of Roland M. Andersen, who is interim CEO.

At ABB, Kara is currently holding the position of Senior Vice President, HUB Business Unit Manager CSE, High Voltage Products.

From 2012 to 2014, Kara was head of ABB’s global power cables business in Karlskrona, Sweden, which NKT acquired in 2017 under a EUR 836 million deal.

“I am excited and pleased to be taking on the leadership of NKT and actively taking part in the development and growth of NKT. I am passionate about the power cable business, and I am thrilled to join the market leader of DC power cable technology,” said Kara.

Once Kara joins the company, he and CFO Roland M. Andersen will constitute the NKT A/S Executive Management Team.

“With the appointment of Alexander Kara as new CEO of NKT, we have found the right profile to further strengthen our power cable business and to position us even better to benefit from the green energy transformation and the growth opportunities in our markets,” said Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jens Due Olsen.
