Noble Energy Strikes Gas at Karish Well (Israel)

Noble Energy has encountered ‘significant traces of natural gas’ at its Karish prospect, in the Mediterranean sea, offshore Israel.

The well, located in the Alon C license, 75 kilometers north west of Haifa,  has today reached a final depth of 4,790 meters below sea level (including the depth of the water).

The U.S. independent informed its partners, Delek Drilling and Avner Oil Exploration that, based on a test carried out during the drilling operations, significant signs of petroleum (natural gas) have been discovered.

Noble has also informed that the depth of natural gas-bearing strata (net) is approximately 60 meters long. The Karish-1 well is being drilled with the Ensco 5006 rig.

The company is now preparing to conduct a wireline logging, which should, once completed, provide a more precise insight into the discovery.

Back in March, the operator said that the Karish prospect had a pre-drill gross mean resource estimate of 3.0 Tcf with a range of 2.3 to 3.6 Tcf .
