Nord Stream to close for maintenance

The Nord Stream twin gas pipeline, which runs from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, will stop gas flows from August 11-20 as part of annual maintenance works.

Nord Stream AG, operator of the pipeline, said on Monday that these works are a part of Nord Stream’s long-term pipeline integrity management strategy to ensure that the pipelines will be able to continue transporting up to 55 bcm of gas per year for at least 50 years.

The maintenance works include annual maintenance of mechanical components, as well as testing of the automation system.
