Norway: ConocoPhillips to Use Maersk Gallant for Production Drilling on Ekofisk South

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS has received consent to use the Maersk Gallant mobile drilling facility to pre-drill production wells on Ekofisk Sør.

The consent relates to use of Maersk Gallant to pre-drill production wells on Ekofisk 2/4-Z, which is one of the two facilities included in the development of Ekofisk Sør. The 2/4 Z production facility will receive a gangway connection to the Ekofisk Field Centre.

The Ekofisk Field Centre is part of production licence 018 and is located about 280 km southwest of Stavanger. Water depth at the drilling site is 79 metres.

The plan is to start drilling at the beginning of September 2012, and conclude at the end of June 2013.

Maersk Gallant is a jack-up drilling facility, built at Far East Levingston Shipbuilding (FELS) in Singapore in 1993. It is classified in Lloyd’s and registered in the Danish ship registry. The facility is operated by Maersk Contractors Norge A/S. Maersk Gallant received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in August 2002.
