Norway: Maersk Drilling​ Inks Contract for Jack-Up Rig for Development of Brynhild Field

Maersk Drilling​ has signed a contract with Lundin Norway AS for an ultra harsh environment jack-up rig to carry out subsea field development of the Brynhild Field in Norway. The contract will be for MAERSK GUARDIAN or MÆRSK GIANT to be declared by 1 January 2013.

The firm contract duration is for three wells of approximately 325 days and also includes two options for one well each. The contract value for the firm three-well period is approximately USD 97 million. The contract is expected to commence between 1 March 2013 and 1 June 2013.

This contract demonstrates that our rigs are well prepared for the high potential within smaller subsea development projects with tieback to existing infrastructure,” says Claus V. MÆRSK GIANT and MÆRSK GUARDIAN are sister rigs of Hitachi Zosen​ design and are built for operation in ultra harsh environments such as the Norwegian North Sea.
