Norway: Maersk Reacher Jack-Up Gets AoC

On 15 July 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) granted an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the mobile drilling facility Maersk Reacher, operated by Maersk Drilling Norge AS (Maersk Drilling).

The AoC is a statement by the PSA expressing the authorities’ confidence that petroleum activities can be carried out by the facility within the framework of the regulations.

Maersk Reacher is a jack-up drilling facility delivered in 2008 by Keppel FELS Shipyard in Singapore.

The facility will initially be used on Valhall.

The decision is based on the information provided in the AoC application regarding the technical condition of the facility, the applicant’s organisation and management systems, as well as the authorities’ verifications and other case processing.

The validity of this AoC is conditional on Maersk Drilling ensuring that the facility and relevant parts of the company’s organisation and management systems are maintained in such a manner as to safeguard the terms and assumptions in the PSA’s decision.
